Acre of Roses, Trentham
Acre of Roses in Trentham has been described as ‘a spellbinding flower-filled retreat’, and is one of Australian Traveller magazine’s Unique Hidden Gems in their coveted list of 100 unique stays. Situated in the middle of a whimsical rose garden, you’ll find The Potting Shed, an old working garden shed turned cosy adults-only studio that honours its horticultural heritage. Also on site is the luxurious wellness escape – The Miner’s Cottage’, a ‘Hamptons-meets-country’ 2-bedroom 1860s Miners Cottage, fully restored with all the mod cons.

Owl + Oak, Castlemaine
Owl + Oak is a stylish, recently renovated home in Castlemaine, with 3 queen-size comfy bedrooms and a spacious landscaped backyard with outdoor setting gathering around the firepit. Just a stone’s throw away from some of the best walking trails around, vintage markets, cafes, and bakeries which which Castlemaine is famous for. An inviting, deep tub awaits for you to relax in after a day exploring the region.

Train Caboose On Zig Zag Vineyard, Drummond North
Snuggle up in a beautifully Restored Train Caboose overlooking one of the most picturesque vineyards in the Daylesford / Macedon Ranges region. Just 5 minutes from the quaint little town of Malmsbury and a scenic 25 minute drive from Daylesford, this original 1950s “red rattler” guardsman’s carriage has been lovingly renovated with everything you need for a cosy weekend away, including a toasty indoor wood heater and a sunny north-facing deck overlooking the vineyard and undulating “Belltoper” forest beyond.
What we love about The Caboose: It’s a caboose! And it’s at our absolute favourite local vineyard. Whenever we guests stay, we head to Zig Zag for a wine tasting, then sit on the deck with a couple of bottles under the vines and enjoy a long and lazy Daylesford Picnic Box lunch as the sun sets over the vineyard.
The Barn Woodend
Just up the road from the centre of Woodend, tucked behind a white picket fence you’ll find The Barn Woodend – a darling, spacious, light-filled barn with soaring cathedral ceilings and French doors leading to a sunny private courtyard. Believed to be dating back to the mid 20th century, The Barn has been lovingly renovated to include everything you need for a relaxing mini break at the base of Mount Macedon, the perfect base for exploring all the region has to offer.
What we love about The Barn, Woodend: Opposite the toasty wood heater in the open plan lounge room, above the comfy, loungy, couches, the central wall of The Barn features some stunning art by one of my favourite local artists – Tia Alysse. You can book in to do a painting class with Tia which she runs from her Malmsbury studio on weekends – just a 20 minute drive from The Barn.
Wilde Cherry Music House, Daylesford
As soon as you step inside the rustic façade of Wilde Cherry Music House, you’re immediately transported into a music-lover’s dream! Accommodating up to 4 guests across 3 bedrooms, the eclectic collection of Jazz and Rock memorabilia, records and CDs spanning the 60s, 70s and 80s, will engross you in a weekend of rock-star prestige and stardom!
What we love about Wilde Cherry: A percentage of your stay at Wilde Cherry is donated to Support Act – an Australian charity supporting musicians and their families, particularly after the recent COVID hardships.

17Pounds Country Estate is situated on the forest edge between Daylesford and Trentham and features the beautifully appointed Shillings & Pence Cottage. Surrounded by old trees and ferns, you will be enchanted by the sounds and perfumes of nature. The estate grounds has a private creek and four walking trails, so all you have to do is step outside of your luxury accommodation to experience your own private piece of the Wombat State Forest.

What we love about Jubilee Lake Holiday Park: We love taking our dogs on the beaut little loop walk around the lake, and we always get a thrill seeing the resident peacocks which live onsite (look out for the stunning white peacock, and keep your eyes open in Summer for a beautiful souvenir peacock feather!
